Then today I was reading this <a href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/dungeons-deceptions-the-first-d-d-players-push-back-1837516834\">history of D&amp;D<\/a> and came across this quote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> Players took novice characters\u2014\u201cflunkies\u201d in their terms\u2014and implanted them in Blackmoor, a medieval setting of Arneson\u2019s own invention. <\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/dungeons-deceptions-the-first-d-d-players-push-back-1837516834\">Dungeons &amp; Deceptions: The First\u00a0<em>D&amp;D<\/em>\u00a0Players Push Back On The Legend Of Gary Gygax<\/a>  by  <a href=\"https:\/\/kinja.com\/ceciliadanastasio?_ga=2.112030212.1452727540.1566848889-67372883.1554234853\">Cecilia D&#8217;Anastasio<\/a> <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Reader, let me assure you that I am very upset with myself that I did not include basic leveling information, because &#8220;flunky&#8221; is a great term for a new character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suppose other level names would come to mind, because these things should be named and not be left with some number.  A short trip to a thesaurus would have me include &#8220;servant&#8221;, &#8220;gofer&#8221;,  and &#8220;lackey&#8221; so even now, one paragraph later, I&#8217;m doubting the use of &#8220;flunky&#8221; as a level name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I shall revisit it and upgrade the rules. And then one day, if I have friends and we are very drunk, we shall try to play a game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><sup id=\"foot1\">1<\/sup> Lost when John Ogden purchased my local ISP and shuttered it without warning, causing me lots of personal grief but more importantly causing several local business to loose their website and email history, thus crippling them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup id=\"foot2\">2<\/sup> One day I will cull all of the entries over there.
